Hoover Dam Bus Tours
Standard Hoover Dam Tour
Hoover Dam Tour: from $120
Add Power Plant: from $140
Total Time: 5 hrs
A Hoover Dam Tour takes you to the Hoover Dam Visitor Center. The Power Plant Tour includes an elevator ride down to the base of the Dam, where you will see the massive power generators. A return elevator, takes you up to the Hoover Dam Exhibit Building.
During your visit, see the stunning Mike O’Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge (concrete arch bridge, tallest in U.S.A @ 890’). Pat Tillman was a former Arizona football player, served in the military and was killed by friendly fire. Mike O’Callaghan was a Nevada Governor. The bridge was built in 2010. A walk on Hoover Dam is one way to experience the depth of Black Canyon, where the Dam sits. Always interesting, is the drive through historic Boulder City, where the workers lived, particularly the historic district.
As a reminder, Hoover Dam was known as Boulder Dam from 1935-1947. Another amazing thing about the Hoover Dam is the monumental sacrifice to build the dam. Some men died from blasting, falling rocks, drowning, accidents etc. The official fatality count is 96.
And don’t forget to visit the only grave marker @ the Hoover Dam (year 1947), where the Mascot of Hoover Dam (a Black Lab Mix Dog) was buried. The plaque on the rock wall tells the sad but inspirational story. Finally, what many say is the “greatest dam ever built,“ is Las Vegas’ best sightseeing tour!
Standard time at Hoover Dam is usually 1.5 hours.
